GOLDEN WINDOW PROGRAM

The Golden Window Program is a stipend-based support system for individuals with spinal cord injuries who reside in Western PA, Eastern Ohio (including Columbus), and Northern WV. * click here to see eligible counties.

This program is made possible through the generous support of the Richard King Mellon Foundation and the Fred J. & Shirley H. Jordan Foundation.

How the Program Works

Funds are paid directly to a provider, there are no reimbursements made to individuals for out-of-pocket expenses.

$15,000 maximum, inclusive of any sales tax and installation fees.

An individual’s proposed service plan must fall into one or more of the following categories: physical rehabilitation, durable medical equipment, home adaptation, vehicular adaptation, mental health support.

ELIGIBILITY

Individuals applying to the Golden Window Program must:

• Have a spinal cord injury diagnosed by a medical professional.
Reside within Western PA, Eastern Ohio (including Columbus) and Northern WV.

Preference will be given to those who are in the first two years of injury or have no other means of financial support.

Why Apply?

The first 24 months of spinal rehabilitation are critical. They call it “The Golden Window.” Without financial support and expert guidance, many rehab patients do not know where to turn. Let us be that beacon of hope to help you get back on track.
