Overview and Services Provided:

CLASS is a nonprofit organization serving individuals with disabilities, older adults, and their families throughout Allegheny and surrounding counties. The organization was founded in 1951 by family members interested in seeing their children with disabilities have more opportunities in their lives. CLASS has grown and developed over the years, but that basic goal of helping people with disabilities live full lives in their communities still remains. The organization serves adults whose diagnoses include, but are not limited to, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, autism, traumatic brain injury, or intellectual and developmental disabilities. The organization serves individuals through a variety of in-home and community-based services designed to meet the varying needs of people living with disabilities. Programs include In-Home Services, Residential Services, Community Partners, Centre Services, Multiple Sclerosis Services, Employment Services, Structured Day, Technology for Our Whole Lives and more.

Programming:

In-Home Services – Personal Assistance Services providing support with activities of daily living and community support.

Residential Services – Individuals live with up to two roommates with 24-hour support promoting community inclusion and each person’s potential for maximum independence.

Community Partners – One-on-One services developing strategies to overcome challenges as they arise to be successful in the community and enhance quality of life.

Centre Services – Community skill building classes addressing independent living skills and meaningful community participation.

Employment Services – Supporting individuals through their journey toward competitive integrated employment.

Technology for Our Whole Lives – Providing Assistive Technology to people with disabilities and older adults.
